Metro Car Wash & Detailing Provides More Than a Spotless Car

After 18 years in business and multiple Best Of awards, owner Mazen Muna of Metro Car Wash and Detailing, 1510 N. Van Buren St., says it takes more than high-end products and the latest technologies to be successful.

For Muna, the most valuable services are non-purchasable, with attentive customer service, honesty and community support topping the list.

“I love to identify what people need and then provide it. Whether it’s a mom with a mini-van and three kids who doesn’t have the time or energy to clean the goldfish (crackers) from the backseat, or a Ferrari collector who brings in his $700,000 Ferrari for a cleaning, we understand and take care of their needs,” says Muna.

Taking care of the communities’ needs is also a large part of Metro Car’s mission. This year, the business provided more than 1,800 free temporary windows for victims of car break-ins. “We will clean up the mess and seal the window to get people mobile immediately,” says Muna. “We are available seven days a week to help. It’s a really good feeling.”

For the past five years, Metro Car has served as the official detailer for the Milwaukee Bucks, a role the entire staff takes extremely seriously. At the same time, the business is viewed as a neighborhood refuge for all things car-related.

“People have stopped in just to get air in their tires,” says Muna. “Once a woman came in because a (feral) kitten was trapped in her motor. We were able to help her find the right resources to remove the kitten safely.”

Muna says his sole motivation is providing for his family–comprised of his wife and children–and serving Milwaukee.

“I love Milwaukee. I was born and raised here,” says Muna. “This is a family business. My son is my right arm in the summertime, and my wife and daughters help, too.”

Muna, who opened The Dogg Haus on Brady Street in 2005, took over Metro Car Wash in 2008. Since then, he’s taken off a handful of days and remains available to his staff and customers even while on vacation.

“I love running my businesses, and I’m very hands-on,” he says. “I believe the internal customers (staff) have to be satisfied and happy, so external customers are satisfied and happy. I have employees who have been with me for 10, 12, 15 years.”

Metro Car Wash & Detailing offers hand washes, detailing, ceramic coating, window tint, paint protection film, dent removal and more. Customers can book an appointment online or by phone and walk-ins are welcome. Gift cards are also available in any amount.

“I’m not solving global problems here, but honest communication, excellent service and a fair price go a long way. It’s like the triangle-shaped wafer you get in a dish of Kopp’s custard. It’s the little things that matter the most.”
